LAKEVIEW HIGH SCHOOL: 20

The Otsego Bowling teams had the second of our two busiest weeks. We had a home wolverine conference match on Wednesday against Edwardsburg. The boys took the victory 23 to 7 against the eddies. The otsego boys took 7 of the 10 individual matchups with high games from senior captain Gavin Merrill with a 192,  Senior Noah Towne with a 188 and senior Robert Phillips with a 184. The Otsego boys also swept the baker games to take the victory. The previously undefeated girls struggled coming off such a great weekend and fell to the Eddies 24 to 6. The score was much closer than that pins wise but still seemed to be just off. In individual games they took 6 of 10 individual points but the couple points we lost we lost big so that hurt for totals. First game senior captain McKinley Kinnane shot a 176 to lead all bulldogs but that wasn't enough as Catarina Mcguire from the Eddies shot 60 pins over her average to shoot a fine 188 to help the eddies take totals 688 to 668. The next game both teams struggled and only had a high game of 139 by edwardsburg's Mahayla Brown and again the bulldogs lost totals by only 13 pins. The baker games went the same way as the bulldogs still had a chance at the match if they swept the baker games. The Bulldogs lost the first baker game by three and the match was over. McKinley Kinnane had the high series of the night with a 305 and Alicyn Klok shot 276..

Saturday the Bulldogs took on the team from Battle Creek Lakeview. The boys took 1 of 2 of the baker games and won totals on baker's games to take a 6 to 4 lead going into regular games. The regular games stayed close throughout with the help of Freshman Cole Kortokrax taking both of his points and Connor Farrish shooting a fine 203 game but the bulldogs lost totals by 23 pins to now trail 10 to 9. In the second game Cole was the only one to secure his point and the bulldogs lost 20 to 10. High series went to Sophomore Connor Farrish with a 352.

The Otsego girls came out to punish someone after the midweek loss to Edwardsburg and the previously Undefeated Battle Creek Lakeview team happened to be the one to take that punishment. The Bulldogs took both Baker games right off the bat to take a 10 to 0 lead heading into regular games. The bulldogs didnt take the foot of the gas in regular games either as they took 8 out of 10 regular games. Junior  Alicyn Klok had a high game of 155 and Junior Wybie Burke had a high series of 291 with Alicyn Klok with a 288 and Sophomore Mercedes Edney with a 281. Otsego took totals also to win the match 28 to 2.

Sunday concluded the long week with 16 of our bowling bulldogs in action. We had 3 teams in the Portage Northern tourney at continental lanes. It is a long gruelling day of bowling as each bowler bowls 3 regular games and 6 baker games before the roll offs even begin.  There was individual and team stuff going on. There were 30 teams plus over 160 bowlers competing. On the boys side Senior captain Gavin Merrill had a really good day with averaging over 200 per game in his three individual games going 195, 179 and 227 to finish with a 601 series and finish 5th overall on the boys side. Sophomore Connor Farrish finished 23rd with a 476 series. Sophomore Dylan Towne and sophomore Jacob Underwood both also finished in the top 40. Neither of the boys teams finished in the top 8 teams to go to roll offs but still bowled well against some of the states top competition. The girls for the second week in a row made the roll offs as a 6th seed with some great team games and also some really good individual accomplishments. The girls fell in the first round of roll offs against the 3rd seeded Coldwater team in two close baker games.  Individually Junior Alicyn Klok finished 4th in the overall with a 497 series, senior captain McKinley Kinnane finished 16th with a 437 series, Junior Wybie Burke Finished 33rd with a 371 series and Junior Lily Jones finished 40th with a 346 series. Junior Paige Bender also shot her career high 137 game.
