Paw Paw visited Bulldog Stadium on Wednesday evening and were sent packing with a 2-0 defeat to open up conference play. The Dawgs out-shot their opponents 13-4 on the night and held a decisive edge in corner kicks. Paw Paw goalkeeper Rachel Babcock snuffed out multiple crossing efforts in each half to give her team a chance to hang around, but it was not enough as Otsego banged one home in each half to record their first Wolverine Conference victory of the young season.

Sophomore midfielder Lexus Putt and Junior Cassidy Engels converged on an Alison Diller cross in the 19th minute and both looked to finish quickly. The resulting ball looped over the Paw Paw keeper and put the Dawgs up 1-0. Freshman Rylie Henckel added a second half goal in the 45th minute putting home a loose ball off a Diller cross that was not finished by Cait Kitchen.

The Dawgs carried the majority of possession throughout, limited balls into the dynamic and talented Claudia Muessig, and shut the game down late to preserve the win. Senior keeper Matti Rayman recorded four saves on her way to the team's 5th clean sheet this year. None more important than her diving parry of a Muessig effort that was destined for the bottom corner if not for Rayman's intervention.

Otsego has a full week off before traveling to Sturgis for another Wolverine Conference league match next Wednesday.
