The Varsity girls followed the JV's example Wednesday night when they took the field against Coldwater. Though the score gap wasn't nearly as impressive as JV had put up, the dominance and quality certainly was on display. It seemed, even in the early going, that Otsego was going to have the majority of the possession. This factor helped in allowing the Dawgs to outshoot the Cardinals 19-1. The issue seemed to be the lack of finishing touch from the hosts as they scored only 3 of the 13 shots they put on frame.

The first goal came early as McKenzie Milton popped home a ball at the back post that had been rattling around in the 18. The Dawgs got their second through some good target play and an excellent bottom corner finish from 18 yards out. Seniors Cait Kitchen and Alison diller hooked up on a quick knock under play from the PK spot to the top of the penalty area. Diller found a window on her left foot and put it by the diving keeper. The score was 2-0 headed into the break.

The second half saw even more possessive dominance from Otsego, and the final ball just seemed to be a little off tonight. Whether finishing, crossing, or trying to find a teammate in stride, the team just couldn't find the magic touch. Milton certainly found the touch she needed as she flicked a ball over the central defenders that sent Cassidy Engels in 1v1 with the keeper. Cass fought through the initial challenge and poked it into the back of the net to extend the lead to 3-0.

Matti Rayman had a relatively easy night with only one save in the shutout, but she was alive for a good number of long balls into her box, and her distribution allowed us to keep the ball and use our width. Overall, Otsego will head into spring break at 4-0 with 11 goals scored and only one goal against.
