LOY NORRIX HIGH SCHOOL: 0

5-0 was the scoreline in this early season non-conference affair, and the scoreline basically reflected the play in this one. Norrix came out ready to play in the first twelve minutes, and Otsego looked a bit sluggish. The back line was soaking up a bit of pressure, and the midfielders and forwards couldn't seem to make the connections necessary to keep the ball and progress up the field. Alison Diller and Lexus Putt connected inside the box to open the scoring, and Otsego never seemed to look back.

Two more goals would be scored in the first half of play, and the majority of the attacking pressure was being put on by Otsego. McKenzie Milton and Rylie Henckel both jumped at the chance to press high when a ball between the Norrix center back and goalkeeper caused some confusion. The pressure allowed Milton to win the ball and slot it into an empty net for her first goal on the year. Then, with just a minute remaining in the half, Junior Maddy Farmer recieved a cross from the right side only to be hauled down in the box and the Dawgs were awarded a penalty kick. Diller made no mistake as she buried it well out of the keeper's reach. 3-0 Otsego at the half.

The second half saw more of the same, and although the Knights did a decent job of providing their big target forward some service, the back line for Otsego snuffed out everything that came their way. Cassidy Engels put a looper over the Norrix goalie off a pass from Cara Kitchen in the 59th minute to make it 4-0. Senior center back Alexis Petty tallied her virst high school goal in the dying minutes of the game to close out the scoring. The buildup was a sister-sister affair with Avery Henckel lacing a direct kick to the back post finding her sister, Rylie. A gorgeous touch with the outside of her right foot flicked the ball back to the middle of the six yard box where Petty headed home past a helpless goalkeeper. A gorgeous play to end a great effort.

Alexis Petty earns Player of the Game honors for her stellar defensive work, help in the midfield late on, and her first career goal!
