Monday's non-conference match between host Otsego and visiting Pennfield proved to be a scrappy affair played mostly in the middle third of the field. Scoring chances would be hard to come by for both teams, and the game would prove to be a battle all the way through.

Otsego, as a unit, failed to put their stamp on the match early losing the majority of the 50/50 balls in the first half. Pennfield looked the tougher team, and built more possession and chances as a direct result. Though the Bulldogs created a couple solid attacks near the end of the half, the match went into halftime deadlocked at zeros.

The second half was more of the same for both teams, with Otsego doing a slightly better job of ball winning in the midfield. Sophomore Lauren Nieboer and Senior Captain Colleen Waters both picked up their intensity and passing efficiency in the second half to help keep Otsego in the match. Senior defender Kara Jubenville snuffed out the Panther attack in the air and on the ground to help the Bulldogs hold their third clean sheet of the season. 

Midway through the second half both teams saw a player sent off for elbowing an opponent. Sophomore wide player McKenzie Milton, who was tasked with man-marking the dangerous Sonata Beasley, was shown red along with the aforementioned Panther attacker. This proved to change the match entirely, and really took the air out of proceedings. 

The match finished nil-nil, and the visitors would be the happier of the two squads based on the result. Matti Rayman finished with 4 saves to record her third shutout. No Player of the Game honors were awarded for this match.

The Bulldogs travel to Sturgis Wednesday for their next Wolverine Conference match.
